Anthropological and social approach to death anxiety in the state security forces during the COVID-19 crisis

Os recentes acontecimentos que estão a varrer o planeta em todas as suas dimensões (ambiental, sanitária, económica, política, etc.) estão a contribuir para que os seres humanos se vejam carentes de recursos pessoais para lidar com eles. Durante a primeira vaga da pandemia da COVID-19, profissionais considerados essenciais, tais como as Forças e Corpo de Segurança, tentaram proporcionar à população um certo grau de bem-estar e segurança, mas pagaram o elevado preço de muitos membros deste grupo gerando ansiedade face à morte, especialmente entre aqueles que se encontravam na linha da frente. Este trabalho, utilizando uma metodologia descritiva e mista, visa determinar o nível de ansiedade de morte numa grande amostra destes profissionais (n=1705) e realizar uma análise antropológica e social das suas percepções destes eventos. Os resultados mostraram uma presença significativa de ansiedade de morte nos membros das Forças e Corpo de Segurança, especialmente durante a primeira fase da pandemia, o que permite diferentes interpretações antropológicas.
